As part of Term 3's animal
studies program, Cycle 2 went to the Melbourne
Zoo. We set off in the morning with worried
looks at the cloudy skies above ..
but we were determined to have a wonderful
day. We all rugged up and arrived at the
zoo raring to go...
Daniel: "I enjoyed drawing the
White Cheeked Gibbon. I enjoyed watching
the penguins who weren't doing much except
walking." Piero: "I liked the meerkats
because they look really cute when they
stand on their hind legs." Madisan: "I liked the monkeys
the most because they looked cute when they
were swinging on the branches." Ruby: "The Zoo was really good
and I liked every single animal that was
there. I liked seeing the elephant being
washed and scrubbed. The big cats were exciting
and the monkeys were funny." Jaiden: "I liked everything
at the Zoo but my favourites were the meerkats
and the penguins. The penguins are cute." Tristan: "I liked the Meerkats
and the seals. The seals were swimming very
fast under the water. I liked the Meerkats
because they are so cute and one came up
and tapped on the glass right infront of
me." Molly: "I liked the big cats
because they look nice and cuddly. My favourite
big cat was the Snow Leopard. It was grey
and had black spots. It lives in the mountains
in Asia."
Sophie:"Seeing all the
animals was interesting. Two meerkats kept
coming over to me. I missed seeing the zebras,
but I loved the turtles, they were squashed
underneath the rocks sleeping, or maybe hibernating." Mackenzie: "I enjoyed seeing the
gorillas, the way that they all got along
with each other. I learned that there were
many types of monkeys in the world. I liked
the White Cheeked Gibbon - especially its
moustache." Xavier: "I liked watched the meerkats
digging. I am interested in learning about
snakes. I especially liked the Milk Snake
which had red and black lines all over its
body." Lauren: "I thought the zoo was
really fun. I liked the furry White Cheeked
Gibbon with the big moustache."
Once again a huge thank you to Sabrina and
Maria Kelly who drove us to and from the excursion,
as well as sharing the experience with us
and supporting our learning.
I would also like to thank the parents of
the Cycle 2 children for their support. We
appreciate that all the excursions were close
together and without your support we would
not have been able to attend. The learning
experiences are richer for it - so thank you
very much!
